About Shirley

Shirley was born and raised in Concord, New Hampshire and moved south because of her fathers health.  She's the oldest of five kids, one sister and three brothers.

 Shirley Dicks is,

  • President and Founder of The Jeff Dicks Medical Coalition

  • President and founder of Authors For Charity

  •  founder of The Murfreesboro Writers Club

  • Member of Tennesseans Against State Killing

  • Member of Murder Victims Families for Reconciliation

  • She's been on Geraldo, Maury, Sally, Rolonda, Shirley Show, and Jerry Springer

  • The BBC did a documentary on her life story and a movie company took an option on her book, They're Going TO kill My Son to make it into a movie for TV.

  • She used to speak out on  The Journey Of  Hope  which is two weeks of action against the death penalty by MVFR members.  All have lost a loved one to the act of murder and don't believe that the death sentence is the way to go. Sister Helen Prejean, author of Dead Man Walking, is a member who speaks at prisons, rallies, churches, colleges, marches for two weeks each year in a different state.

  • Shirley has been published in Joyful Women -- Women's World -- Prison Life -- and other magazines.

  • Won first prize in Poetry Contest for "Daddy's Little Man"
